Here are a few suggestions for some beautiful nearby spots   Schweitzer Ski Area – a lovely perspective for much of     the country around here   Johnson Point Vista – see the vast panorama of the     lake from the mountains’ edge   Cabinet Gorge Dam – what a tumultuous, fabulous     view of spring run-off   Ross Creek Cedars – 500 year-old sentinels of the     forest are stunning

Head across the Bitterroot Mountains or up along the Rivers Several sojourns for a day & you’ll enjoy scenery along the way   Thompson Pass – crisscross state lines & enjoy the     mountains & mines   Clark Fork, Bull, and Kootenai Rivers in one day with     time to play   International Selkirk Loop crosses Water, Mountains & Borders Inland ferries, shopping, and great scenery for two days
